2008 Braves Interns Orientation & Training Schedule

The following schedule is for all 2008 Braves Interns who have confirmed their involvement with Tom Fink.  If you have any questions please contact Tom at tomfink@aol.com or 508-888-7870.

Important Dates for Beginning of Season:

- Saturday, June 7th 9 am to 1 pm at Doran Park (click here for directions).  There will be an orientation and then you will prepare the field for the first game of the season (hanging banners, setting up souvenirs & concessions, etc).  Coffee and food will be provided. Please come in comfortable working clothes - shorts & t-shirts are fine.

- Wednesday, June 11th 5 pm to 9 pm at the Upper Cape Tech School (this is the school where Doran Park is located).  This is our First Pitch Night and Lighting Ceremony.  Festivities will start at 6 pm but you will help decorate the room.  This is our kick off dinner where you will get to meet all the board members, coaches, players and bat boys & girls. 

- Saturday, June 14th - FIRST HOME GAME - the game time is tentatively scheduled for 7 pm. We will confirm this after Monday, June 2nd when the lights will be tested.  We ask you to arrive at the field at 4pm, 3 hours early, for the first game so we can ensure everything is ready to go.

2008 Internships

The Bourne Braves have enjoyed a long history of offering internships to college students who, historically, have worked in myriad capacities and performed any number of duties for the organization. In the past, interns have performed such duties as marketing, communications, the writing of press releases, public relations, fund raising, etc. In fact, current and longtime Cape League president Judy Walden Scarafile and Dick Bresciani of the Boston Red Sox began their careers as interns with the Cape Cod Baseball League. While the organization maintains its own staff, we utilize 10-12 interns per season. The Braves administration encourages potential interns or players to contact our intern coordinator Tom Fink at tomfink@aol.com.

REQUIREMENTS

To serve as a franchise intern, Cape Cod accommodations are required, even if said accommodations are temporary in nature. You can discuss your housing options with the intern coordinator. Interns must also provide their own mode of reliable transportation. Internships are usually not paid positions. It is expected that interns secure paid employment during their stay on Cape Cod.

2008 INTERNSHIP INFORMATION

To all candidates,

Here is some initial information regarding summer internships for the Braves 2006 summer.

- Interns will report the 1st week of June and work through @ mid August.
- This will be volunteer work, in other words: no pay.
- You may have other jobs if they don't interfere with our schedule.
- Credit may be available, but that is to be defined by your school.
- Our volunteers (including Board) work as a team. We may have specific jobs but help each other out when needed.
- We may be able to find you housing and jobs. These will be provided only after all the coaches and players have been placed.

Intern Responsibilities:

Pre season: Administrative work with the President, Secretary and
Fundraising committee.

Marketing and Community relations will be an ongoing need

Baseball Camp Coordinator. Position is newly created.

Gameday:
We need 2 for team announcing- press box
We need 2 for teamline- online play by play

We could use one for website/articles (journalism major)

We need 2 to run the 50/50 table- similar to raffle

We need 2 to assist with 50/50- gather donations from fans in the stands.

We need several individuals for the concession stand- possibly manage.

Interns will arrive at the field at least one and a half hour before game- to set up AND stay after the game until everything is cleaned up and finished.
