BOURNE - Evan Ocheltree (Wake Forest) sent the game into extra innings with a two-run home run in the top of the ninth and Kyle Bellows (San Jose State) provided the backbreaker with a grand slam in the top of the 13th inning as Chatham moves into a tie for third place with Brewster.
With one out, Grant Green (USC) was hit by a pitch and Yan Gomes (Tennessee) drew a walk. Victor Sanchez (San Deigo) knocked in Chatham's first run with an RBI double. After an RBI groundout, Ocheltree drilled a 1-2 pitch to left-center field to knot the game at 4-4.
After three scoreless innings, Joe Mercurio (Maine) was hit by a pitch and was lifted for a pinch runner. Following a walk to Kyle Seager (North Carolina), Green reached base on an error which scored Corey Overholtzer (UNC-Greensboro) to make it 5-4. Two batters later, Bellows drove a 1-0 to left-center to put Chatham up 9-4 and seal the victory. Bourne drew first blood in the third inning. Jordan Henry (Mississippi) and Pierre LePage (Connecticut) had run-scoring hits to give Bourne the early lead.
The Braves out-hit the A's 12-10, led by Henry's three hits. Lapage, Jamie Johnson (Oklahoma), Tyler Cannon (Virginia), and Brandon Blantz (Dallas Baptis) each had two hits for Bourne
