FALMOUTH - The Commodores' Michael Thomas (Southern) blasted a two-out walkoff home run off Victor Black (Dallas Baptist) in the bottom of the 12th inning as Falmouth beat the Bourne Braves 3-2 in Cape Cod Baseball League action yesterday.
The dramatic home run closed the door on the 4 1/2-hour game (there was a one hour, two minute rain delay prior to the start) and keeps Falmouth atop the Western Division, one point ahead of Hyannis.
Bourne did not have a problem getting baserunners, but rather scoring them. The Braves left 16 runners stranded.
Bourne knotted the game at 2-all in the seventh inning on Ross Wilson's (Alabama) RBI double.
A.J. Pollock (Notre Dame) and Darin Ruf (Creighton) put together consecutive run-scoring hits in the third inning to give Falmouth (21-17-1) a 2-1 lead.
Ben Tootle (Jacksonville State) pitched scoreless ninth, 10th and 11th innings for Falmouth, striking out five.
Nathan Baker (Ole Miss) pitched six effective innings for Bourne (18-20-1), allowing two runs while fanning eight
