Braves Force One Game Playoff
Aug 8, 2008

Less than one week ago, the Braves stood 3 points out of the final playoff spot seemingly needing a miracle to make the postseason.
Following a 2-1 victory over Wareham in the regular season finale, the Braves fifth straight victory, Bourne finished the season tied with Falmouth at 23-20-1 and will play a one-game playoff game at Falmouth tonight at 7.
After Hyannis dropped a 3-1 decision at Cotuit earlier in the day, the Braves knew that a victory over the Gatemen would ensure, at least, one playoff game.
Pitching one day after his birthday, Braves hurler Ricky Bowen tossed a 7 inning gem allowing just 1 run and striking out 9 in the Braves 2-1 victory to punch their ticket to the postseason for the third time in four years.
Kyle Roller provided the offense as his first inning double knocked in Jordan Henry to set the tone for the Braves win. Jamie Johnson added an insurance run with a walk in the third.
In the end, Eric Pettis notched his 8th save of the summer to complete an unlikely ascent to the postseason and set up tonight's historic one-game playoff vs. a Commodores team that knocked the Braves out of the playoffs a year ago.
A Braves victory tonight would earn them a trip to the Divisional Series vs. West Division champ Cotuit tomorrow followed by a home tilt on Sunday.
