WAREHAM - Bourne has certainly had Wareham's number throughout the regular season. Each time the teams have met, the Braves have come out victorious.
Last night was no exception as Bourne came from behind to win 7-5 at Spillane Field.
Because the Gatemen lost, they will be on the road for the one-game preliminary round playoff, facing the Cotuit Kettleers at Lowell Park tomorrow at 3 p.m. The winner of that game will advance to the Cape Cod Baseball League's best-of-3 second round against Bourne (25-17-2, 52 points) on Saturday.
Wareham (19-19-6, 44 points) built a 5-2 lead through the first six innings, but the Braves came storming back with five runs in the final two innings.
Stefen Romero (Oregon State) contributed most of Bourne's offense with a two-run double in the sixth and a three-run homer in the top of the eighth that tied the game at 5.
In the ninth, Pierre LePage (UConn) - recipient of the league's Robello 10th Player Award and the Silva Sportsmanship Award - led off with a single. Robert Segedin (Tulane) followed with a single of his own. After a fly ball advanced LePage to third, Adam Rice (Coastal Carolina) walked to load the bases. Raynor Campbell (Baylor) hit a two-run single to give the Braves their first lead of the night and eventual winning margin.
For Wareham, Jordan Swagerty (Arizona State) led the offense with three hits including a triple, and Rob Kral (Col of Charleston) and Shea Vucinich (Washington State) each added two hits apiece.
