The Rangers have announced their top three Minor League award winners for 2009. All three will be honored at the Mid-Winter Awards Banquet on Jan. 29 at the Omni Hotel in Fort Worth.
Moreland, 24, who is expected to be in Major League camp as a non-roster player, combined to hit .331 with 16 home runs and 85 RBIs in 116 games and 447 at-bats with Class A Bakersfield and Frisco, despite missing the final three weeks of the season with a broken foot.
He hit .300 (21-for-70) with three home runs, 12 RBIs, and a .398 on-base percentage over 18 games for Surprise in the Arizona Fall League. Moreland, who bats and throws left-handed, was selected by Texas in the 17th round of the 2007 First-Year Draft out of Mississippi State.
Moreland played for the Braves in both the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
