Bourne falls to Falmouth, 1-0

FALMOUTH, Mass.—Four games into a slump the Braves (11-12-1) have yet to wake up the bats, falling to the Commodores (14-10,) 1-0.

Braves pitching held the team in reach of the one-run game with a strong start from Kennesaw State’s AJ Moore who went 6 1-3, giving up one earned run off five hits, no walks and four strikeouts.

Falmouth starter Brady Puckett (Lipscomb) pitched six one-hit innings with three walks and five strikeouts.

The only hit belonged to Connor McVey (Cincinnati) who had a leadoff single in the fifth.

Although the Braves manufactured just one hit, they had six walks on the night and stranded seven.

Brendon Little (UNC Chapel Hill) relieved Moore in the seventh, going 1 2-3 innings giving up one hit with three strikeouts.

Justin Yurchak (Binghamton) improved at the plate, with two walks, his second coming in the top of the ninth with two outs, but unable to reach scoring position after McVey flew out to end the ninth.

The Bourne Braves will continue their schedule before the all-star break at Yarmouth-Dennis (14-10,) 5, Saturday at Red Wilson Field.

Probable starters for Saturday are Oliver Jaskie (Michigan) and Bourne’s Patrick Raby (Vanderbilt.)
