BOURNE, Mass.—The Braves dropped their first game of the 2016 season Wednesday night at Doran Park against the Chatham Anglers, 8-3.

Offense was not an issue for either team, as the Braves and Anglers combined for 22 hits over nine innings.

Braves hitters continue to strand runners on base, leaving nine on Wednesday night.

Errors were also in abundance tonight for the Braves who had three. An error in the fifth by Jeremy Eierman (Missouri State) proved to be costly as he let a ground ball under his glove with a runner at third.

Braves’ Ty Cohen (Florida Tech) received the loss tonight after surrendering three earned runs off fives hits, while striking out one and walking three in 4 1-3 innings.

Binghamton’s Justin Yurchak continued to get on base. He went 1 for 3 with a walk and two RBI.

Connor McVey (Cincinnati) and Louis Alvarado (Nebraska) each had a two-hit night.

Chatham starting pitcher Tony Dibrell (Kennesaw State) got the win, pitching five innings while allowing three earned runs off six hits.

The Braves were unable to hit the bullpen though, as the three relievers combined to pitch four innings of three-hit ball, striking out four and walking one.

Bourne continues the homestand 6 p.m. Thursday and looks to return the favor to the Chatham Anglers in a rematch.
