WAREHAM, Mass.—The Braves (11-9-1) fell to the Wareham Gatemen (12-8-1) on Monday in a Fourth of July game that was lacking fireworks from the Bourne offense.

Tony Dibrell (Kennesaw State) pitched six strong innings, giving up four hits and two runs while striking out eight Gatemen.

His stellar performance was not enough as the offense continued to slump, getting their only run in the fourth inning off six hits.

The RBI came by a David MacKinnon (Hartford) single to score Connor Wong (Houston,) but was all the Braves could manufacture, stranding five on base.

Not one Brave was able to get more than one hit off the Wareham staff, as starter Zach Pop (Kentucky) went five innings, allowing one eared run off four hits two walks and a strikeout to receive the win.

Gatemen Gunner Leger (Louisiana Lafayette) relieved Pop for three innings allowing just one hit while striking out four.

Auburn’s Casey Mize earned his first save on the Cape with a one-hit ninth to extend his scoreless appearances to four outings.

The Braves bullpen continued to answer back to Wareham’s defense, with UNC’s Brendon Little following in the footsteps of Dibrell’s strong outing.

Little went two scoreless innings and closed the game with two hits and two strikeouts.

Joey Bart (Georgia Tech) was one of the few to have success against the Braves’ pitching and had the best night at the plate between the two teams, going 2 for 3 with an RBI and run scored.

Bourne looks to get back atop the western division on Tuesday as they travel to Harwich to face the Mariners (14-7) for a 6:30 game at Whitehouse Field.

Probable starters are Austin Bain (LSU) and Bourne’s JT Perez (Cincinnati.)
