WAREHAM, Mass.–The Bourne Braves (13-15-1) dropped their second consecutive loss against the Wareham Gatemen (13-13-3,) 6-3 Friday night.

Starting pitcher AJ Moore (Kennesaw State) took the loss with a 4 -2-3 innings pitched outing, allowing five earned runs off seven hits, while walking two and striking out four.

The offense outhit Wareham 11-9 but left 11 on base, something that has been a thorn in their side all season.

Willy Yahn (UConn) had the best night out of the Braves’ lineup, going 3 for 5 at the plate and making two diving grabs at third on defense.

Along with Yahn, Jake Mangum (Mississippi State,) Connor Wong (Houston) and Justin Yurchak (Binghamton) all went 2 for 4, with Wong going deep to left-center for his third home run of the season.

Continuing their slide, the Bourne offense struggled to produce runs in the later innings, tacking on just one in the seventh to end the offense for the night.

Wareham stater Ethan Small (Mississippi State) was unable to completely stop the Braves however, giving up two earned runs off six hits in four innings of work, but the bullpen took care of business and held Braves’ bats to one run off five hits with eight strikeouts.

The Braves return to Doran Park 6, Saturday to host the Cotuit Kettleers (11-17.) Probable starters are Matthew Ruppenthal (Vanderbilt) and TBA for Bourne.
