Braves, fall bait to Anglers

CHATHAM, Mass.—The Braves’ (7-5-1) offense went quietly as they dropped game 14 to the Chatham Anglers (7-6) Friday night, 3-1.

Braves’ starter AJ Moore (Kennesaw State) received the loss, going five innings giving up two earned runs off four hits with three walks and six strikeouts.

Chatham came out ahead early, notching two runs in the first off a leadoff walk, single and error by Bourne shortstop Jeremy Eierman (Missouri State.)

The score remained 2-0 until the eighth, when Connor Wong (Houston) singled in centerfielder Brennan Breaux (LSU.)

After a 19-hit game the previous night, the Braves again outhit their opponents, 8-7. Leaving eight left on base and the bases loaded twice.

Justin Yurchak (Binghamton) continued to stay on the base paths, going 3 for 4 with three singles.

Elih Marrero (Mississippi State,) Willy Yahn (UConn,) Breaux and Wong accounted for the five other hits for the Braves’ offense with Breaux going 2 for 4.

Brady Miller (Western Oregon) relieved Moore in the sixth and went 2 1-3 innings, with one unearned run off two hits, one walk and three strikeouts.

Chad Luensmann (Nebraska Lincoln) pitched the eighth and ninth, allowing just one hit with no walks and two strikeouts.

Bourne returns home at 6 Saturday to face the Falmouth Commodores (7-6) at Doran Park.

Probable starting pitchers are Thomas Ponticelli (San Francisco) and Patrick Raby (Vanderbilt) for the Braves.
