Highlights for the 2024 Bourne Braves Schedule

The Cape Cod Baseball League recently released the schedule for the 2024 season, which will begin with a full slate of games on Saturday, June 15th.

The two-time defending champion Bourne Braves will open the season at Doran Park against Orleans—a rematch of the 2023 Cape League championship series—at 6 PM. That starts a four-game stretch against East Division opponents before opening West Division play with a home game against Hyannis.

The Braves will host division rivals Wareham and Cotuit five times during the season. The most notable of those matchups is a Fourth of July game against the Gateman at 6 PM. Their final home game before the postseason will be on August 3 against the Firebirds at 6 PM before closing the regular season on the road against the Kettleers at 4:30 PM.

League-Wide Notes

Teams will each play a 40-game regular season schedule, with no scheduled doubleheaders. Divisional opponents will face each other five times, while cross-divisional opponents will face each other four times.

Each Cape League team will host their home opening game during the first weekend, a home game on either July 3rd or July 4th, and two home games in August.

The annual Cape League All-Star Game will return to Guv Fuller Field, home of the Falmouth Commodores, for the first time since 2003 on Saturday, July 27th. It will mark the eighth time Guv Fuller Field will host the Cape League All-Star Game.

Playoff Format Changes

An adjusted playoff format will be a notable change to the 2024 Cape League season. The top four teams in each division will qualify for the Cape League playoffs. Teams will play a single-elimination game in the opening round of the playoffs. The second round and Cape League Championship Series will be best-of-three series.

The playoffs are scheduled to begin Tuesday, August 6th, and conclude by Monday, August 12th.
